FCC Airboat Rides
June 1, 2002
Story and Photos by Carl Smith

We all met at Sam's on Colonial Drive for a 9:00 am pullout.
Fifteen members and 8 cars caravanned down to the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp East of Orlando on State Road 520. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a gravel parking lot and the concensus was to park on the asphalt in the State Park area.
We all placed our meal order prior to departing for the Airboat Ride. The Airboat had large bench seats so we all went on one Boat. The scenery was very Florida and the incidental encounters with the wildlife was what we wanted. The captain gave us a very smooth ride along with up close and personal views of the natives of the waters. I think everyone got as close to an alligator as they ever wanted to be or maybe too close. Our trip lasted about a half hour or so.
Upon our return we all gathered in the screened patio area and were soon served our lunch. Some of the bolder Natives feasted on Gator bites and frog legs. We timid folk stuck to the general," I've eaten this before" type fare. Upon finishing our meal and chat we departed having had a good time a and a true Florida experience.
If your wondering about all the photos of the back of heads? Its only because seating was first come first serve and guess where the tardy club photographer sat?
