Saturday morning at 6:00 Carl and Sally Smith, Frank and Sue Stevens, Roger and Joe Luczak, Patrick Sidorchuk and Karen Blihar meet at 46 and I-4 in Sanford to caravan up to Jacksonville for autocross racing. We arrived about 8:15am at Whitehall on Cecil naval air station on the landing strip. We had to pass through security then off to the sign in station. The cars went though tech inspection and everything had to be removed for the cars. Manny held the drivers meeting then the drivers jumped in the cars and off to the track. One car at a time drove on the ¾ to 1 mile track swerving in and out of cones, through the gates and across the finish line trying to beet your own score in five different heats. There were C-2, C-3, C-4, C-5, ladies and all other cars racing at low speeds for their high speed license. We were finished about 12:15 and stopped by Cracker Barrel for lunch on the way home. We all talked about the rush we felt weather we were driving or just observing the cars on the track. We had a very good time! This is one event that we were able to participate in because we signed up with NCCC. If this is something that you would like to do please contact a member and we can help you get started.
