May 2007

We left Orlando five cars strong the Hoolihan's, Shepard's, Theabold's,Basica's and Bott's. Toward our fist stop Stone Mountain Ga. to see the lazar light show and fireworks. It was awesome. After a sleep over it was off to Helen Ga. which is a Germany or Swiss looking town with German food antiques and little shops. They also have German beer!! So lunch was and shopping out of the way it was now time to head to Maggie Valley, but a drive through the country road and short hike to Anna Ruby Falls was first. The Falls where beautiful and the hike was about half a mile. After all this we finally arrived in Maggie Valley.
Story continued after the pics.

Monday morning was to be our first full day in Maggie Valley. After a home style breakfast at Maggie's Vittles it was off the a car and motor cycle museum where we where give a tour and meet the owner "Dale" and after Ray asked about the burn out marks on the floor Dale pull out a $300,000 Corker motor cycle and did a couple for us. After a short lunch and a ride to the top of the mountain for pictures we meet up with Dave King from Ghost Town in the Sky and he took us on a tour of the park. It has been closed for the past 5 years an was opening up on Friday, but since we where VIP's for the day we where able to go up early and see the place. It was great they where putting the finishing touches on rides and buildings. Then we where able to see a gun fight. Not a real on, they were practicing for there show and we just happened to be there.
Tuesday was a do what ever day some went to Cherokee shopping other went sight seeing but we all agreed to meet in the Casino. Cindy Shepard won about as much as the rest of us lost. I even tried to sit next to her but none of her good luck rubbed off I keep loosing.
Wednesday was the Tail of the Dragon day, we took of to "Slay the Dragon" and we did until we meet up with some guy on a motor cycle that had to drive 20 MPH. So we did a fast 3/4 of the dragon and a slow finish. But it was great while it lasted. We headed for lunch in Tellico Plans TN. and finished the day on the Cheroala Skyway be fore heading to dinner.
Friday Morning we headed to the Biltmore Estate. My how the other half lived. It was breath taking an to think this was built in 1895 for 25 million then or 3 billion now. They would not let camera's inside so only pictures of the outside where aloud.
Saturday and Sunday where car show days. Kevin & Carol Hoolihan and Ray & Juanita Basica both won awards in there class. It was also the days people started heading home after a full week of sight seeing. We had no rain cool temps. and best of all good times with friends.
