Mystery Trip To St.Augustine
April 6 & 7, 2002

We met in Sanford and started out on our second club mystery trip. We where 17 cars strong and the destination was anyone's guess. We traveled the back roads heading northwest. Everyone was told to remember their surroundings, there was a test at the end. We saw a lot of beautiful horse and farm land on our way to fist stop.
It was at Juniper Springs in the Ocala National Forest. We stopped for a quick pit stop and look. Some people went in the water to checked the temperature. It was cold. From there it was to Salt Springs for fuel and to pick up a picnic lunch.
Then we arrived at our lunch stop. It was under the Eureka bridge which crossed a small river. People asked why such a large bridge for such a small river. There where large wooden walls there for no reason with numbers starting at 7 going to 14. What they where there for was in the 1970s the Army core of Engineers was going to flood the area and make a barge cannel across the state. It never happened and that was all that remained.
After a lunch, pictures, and exploring, it was off again to parts unknown. It was now a north by northeast heading through secondary roads to our final destination St.Augustine.
We checked into our rooms and met at the pool for a party and door price awards. Everyone was a winner but the winners of the test where Bob & Ellen Malizia. They only missed one question.
We all meet for a good dinner together and Elaine Stanley was given a large beefsteak tomato so she would not loose it this time.
After dinner some people did a ghost walk around town others took a horse and carriage ride and other drank at the bar.
After a fun night it was off to bed. In the morning we met to say our good-bye's and went our own way home.
Everyone had a great time and some more than others. Thank you to the people who attended. We will do it again soon
