FCC One Day Mystery Trip
July 31th, 2004
We began our journey; all 27 of us at 8:15am from the Lake Mary rest stop; the last rest stop on I-4 heading toward Daytona. Our first stop was the Deleon Springs Sugar Mill restaurant for breakfast. We all cooked our own, pancakes, bacon, eggs, ham, sausage, will you get the picture. From there we journeyed down Int. Speedway Blvd. to Daytona U.S.A.. We arrived around 11:10am. Once there we took a tour of the track. Daytona Speedy is going through a complete make over. From the track we journeyed over to the attraction. Once inside we separated into smaller groups and proceeded to enjoy the day. Some of us tried our driving skills at Acceleration Alley. A simulator that puts you in the drivers sheet at over 190 miles an hour if you can stay on the track! I know I crashed and burned 5 times. Then it was off to the IMAX 3D movie. What great show. Lunch was a coke and a hot dog. We had vouchers for 15% off at the gift shop. Beside the tour, the movie and Acceleration Alley. Daytona U.S.A. is full of the History of the track, racing all the great NASCAR drivers and innovators of the sport. And much more. A place worth going back to. Thanks again to all who came and enjoyed the journey.
